Integra Mining Limited (ASX:IGR) is pleased to report that recent drilling has intercepted a new style of mineralisation at the Majestic prospect. The Majestic prospect is part of the Monger Joint Venture between Integra (85%) and Newcrest Operations Limited (15%).
Copper-gold mineralisation has been intercepted in a hydrothermal breccia with quartz /pyrrhotite / pyrite / chalcopyrite matrix fill with altered quartz diorite clasts.
Drill hole IMRC079D is located some 200 metres south-southeast of the original Majestic gold ‘discovery’ area and has intercepted the breccia from 140 metres to 160 metres drill depth. Additional drilling on this section has intercepted similar sulphide mineralised breccia in drill holes IMD026 (~5 metres) and IMD027 (~20 metres) with assay results pending. Drill hole IMRC077 has been submitted for copper assays with results pending. Drill hole IMD028 located to the north of the discovery section did not intercept any breccia while a planned drill hole to the south remains to be drilled.
The Majestic area is shaping up as a gold and copper-gold mineralised system of significant scale and remains at the early stages of exploration evaluation.
Integra Managing Director Chris Cairns said it was already clear that Majestic was a significant discovery.
“It is still early days but we have an aggressive drilling program planned to test the full extent of this our second (after Salt Creek) greenfields discovery,” Mr Cairns said. “ The original Majestic ‘discovery’ zone remains open along strike in both directions and at depth, we have located a new zone of high-grade gold mineralisation to the west of the ‘discovery’ zone and three new zones of high-grade gold mineralisation to the east. We are also yet to test all of the aircore gold anomalies from the wider Majestic area.
Now we have identified copper-gold mineralization in a hydrothermal breccia. We have for some time been commenting on the intrusive-related style of mineralization at Majestic and this breccia with significant copper and gold mineralization further underlines the intrusive related characteristics. While it remains uncertain what the economic implications are of this specific drill intercept, the broader implications of a large, intrusive-related gold and coppergold system at Majestic are very encouraging.”
