International Coal Group, Inc. clarified its first quarter 2011 production volumes from its ICG Illinois Viper mine and Wolf Run Mining Company Sentinel mine following incorrect production data reported on the Mine Safety and Health Administration (“MSHA”) website.

For the first quarter of 2011, the Viper mine in the Illinois Basin produced a total of 640,000 tons and the Sentinel mine in Northern Appalachia produced a total of 324,000 tons. Volumes produced at each mine were within normal quarterly expectations.

International Coal Group is in the process of working with MSHA to correct the information included on the public database.

International Coal Group is a leading producer of coal in Northern and Central Appalachia and the Illinois Basin. The Company has 13 active mining complexes, of which 12 are located in Northern and Central Appalachia, and one in Central Illinois. ICG’s mining operations and reserves are strategically located to serve utility, metallurgical and industrial customers domestically and internationally.
