The manufacture and processing of concrete, mortar and asphalt are among the core themes at the international building trade fair bauma in Munich.
BHS-Sonthofen GmbHTo stay successful in tougher economic times, the sector is looking in all areas for tailor-made, cost-effective solutions. Here are some examples of the innovations visitors to bauma in April can look forward to: According to BHS-Sonthofen GmbH competition is hotting up at present in the manufacture of ready-mixed concrete. This German company has reacted to the increasing price pressure by developing a new series of mixer models, DKXN. Thanks to a range of design changes, the twin-shaft batch mixer is considerably less expensive than previous model series. The DKXN mixers are designed primarily for the manufacture of ready-mixed concrete in soft consistencies. Elba-Werk Maschinen-GesellschaftElba-Werk Maschinen-Gesellschaft mbH from Ettlingen/Germany also manufactures machines for the production of concrete. One new product in its programme is the planetary counterflow mixer EMPG 1000. Planetary counterflow mixers are used mainly for block-making. This mixer type distinguishes itself by a rotor which turns around the vertical centre axis and, depending on the mixer size, is fitted with 1 to 3 rotating mixing stars or agitators. Due to the rotational axis of the mixing stars the individual mixing tools of the mixing stars form a sort of planetary path. The new gear of the ELBA planetary counterflow mixer EMPG 1000 enables a variety of ratios to be set between rotor and mixing stars. That means that the energy input and/or the speed ratio may be adjusted to the respective mix. According to Elba, this brings additional advantages in terms of product quality, wear and energy costs. Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich
The new R16 intensive mixer from Maschinenfabrik Gustav Eirich (Hardheim/Germany) can also adapt to any mixing task. The tool speed can be adjusted to between 2 m/s to 40 m/s to suit the product in question. According to the company this helps ensure high quality standards in concrete mixing even for large production quantities and frequent recipe changes. The R16 copes with all materials of all consistencies, from powdery and crumbly to liquid and pulpy, even viscous. The usable volume of the new mixers is 600 or 900 litres, depending on the model. All the machine modules are integrated beneath a travelling protective cover. Knauf PFT
Knauf PFT (Iphofen/Germany) manufactures machine systems to process grouts, plasters, mortars, screeds and paints. On the open-air site at bauma the company is putting on a live simulation of a large-scale building site. In around ten rooms and demonstration boxes, almost all applications for the PFT machines will be demonstrated. One new product announced by the company is a very high-performance one-man mixing pump, PFT Ritmo XL. This is available in either a 400 volt, 3 phase version or a 230 volt, single phase version. The continuous operation mixing pump is suitable for all pumpable premixed dry mortars as well as for pasty materials – without any modification. According to PFT it is easy to transport and very flexible thanks to its dismountable modules. AmmannAt bauma 2010 the Swiss company Ammann is presenting its continuous asphalt mixing plant ContiMix, which is now available in either a mobile or a stationary version. This forced twin-paddle continuous mixer produces between 100 and 360 tonnes per hour. According to Ammann emissions are lower because of the separation of material heating and the mixing process. In addition, all the ingredients can be added to the mixer simply, accurately and directly. The stationary model needs no drag slat conveyor; housing is available as an optional extra. Joseph Vögele AG
Joseph Vögele AG of Mannheim/Germany is presenting its newly developed tracked paver Super 3000-2 at bauma 2010. The machine has a basic width of 3 m. Together with a new fixed-width screed, a laydown rate of up to 1,500 tonnes per hour is achievable and pave widths up to 16 m. This configuration makes the machine suitable for large-scale construction projects with jointless paving, for example the construction or rehabilitation of motorways and airports. Customers who require greater flexibility can combine the Super 3000-2 with an AB 600-2 extending screed. This screed handles a maximum pave width of 9.5 m. Dynapac
Dynapac of Wardenburg/Germany has developed the Compactasphalt method in which two courses of asphalt are laid simultaneously on roads or motorways in one pass, with both layers being laid hot on hot. Until now Dynapac has offered one machine with a total width of 3 m, but now it is bringing out a smaller CM2500 module with a total width of 2.55 m. In contrast to the 3-m module, the drive unit is located on the front of the paver where it takes on the function of a counterweight. At the same time it provides more space for wearing material. Zeppelin and Caterpillar have also come up with a compact design with the new asphalt paver AP555E Mobil-trac. By fitting the engine in sideways, the designers have managed to reduce the length to 5.6 m. This saves transport costs, because the paver can now be transported on a single trailer together with other equipment, for example an asphalt roller. Added to this are benefits in terms of manoeuvrability on the building site. The machine can achieve a maximum working width of eight metres. |
