Scorpio Mining Appoints New CFO |

Scorpio Mining Corporation announces the appointment of Hemdat Sawh, MBA, CA, as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective May 1, 2011.
Mr. Sawh holds a BSc in Geology from Concordia University and a Graduate Diploma in Geology from McGill University. He obtained an MBA from York University in 1988 and became a Chartered Accountant in 1990. Since May 2007, Mr Sawh held the position of CFO for Crystallex International Corporation, a Canadian-based gold company with operations in Venezuela. From 2005 to 2007, he was the CFO for Goldbelt Resources Ltd., prior to which he worked with Grant Thornton LLP from1989 to 2005, involved in the audit of small to medium-sized businesses with a concentration in publicly-listed junior mining companies.Scorpio Mining's current CFO, Mr. Gilbert Comtois will continue to serve as CFO for Scorpio Gold Corporation ("Scorpio Gold") and will assist Mr. Sawh on an as needed basis. Mr. Comtois joined Scorpio Mining in July 2006 and was appointed CFO in April 2007. Under his guidance, the Corporation successfully transitioned through a period of tremendous growth that included reaching commercial production in January 2009. Management and the Board of Directors would like to thank Gilbert for the exceptional diligence and dedication he has shown the Corporation, and wish him much success in the continued growth and development of Scorpio Gold. |
