Prof. Dr. Raimund Bleischwitz from Wuppertal Institute takes part in a group of fellows in the Transatlantic Academy in Washington D.C. During the next nine months he will study "The Competition of Natural Resources - The New Geopolitical Great Game?" together with five other fellows from the USA, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The Academy will especially examine how the rise of the emerging economies (especially China and India); the rapidly growing world population increasingly living in urban environments; climate change and other factors will contribute to increase the competition for natural resources in the next years. The Academy will study as well the impact of this competition to the Transatlantic Community. The researchers will inform the policy debate on both side of the Atlantic in articles, papers and academic conferences. They will produce a collaborative final report by spring 2012.
