Hatch has been retained by Nyrstar Ltd to provide its subsidiary, Compañía Minera San Juan (CMSJ) Peru, with short term mine planning, a year of scheduling, and a review of the Coricancha mining operation in San Mateo, Peru.
The Coricancha project includes two underground polymetallic mines, a concentrator and bioleaching plant, and tailings dam facilities; located between 3,000 and 4,500 metres above sea level in the Andes. In an earlier assignment, Hatch’s operational-readiness study highlighted areas of concern at the mine. Nyrstar then requested Hatch’s assistance with short term planning and scheduling to solve bottlenecks in the ore supply. Improvements in ore supply will lead to a lower cost per tonne. The Hatch offices in Peru and Australia managed the assignment, which was completed in July. Nyrstar has also awarded Hatch the long term mine planning assignment, which aims to increase the mine’s life and overall project value. |
